General Questions:
How does the process of making a reservation work?
- Select your race dates. All available wheels will display for those dates.
- Select the specific product. On the bottom right under the large picture of wheels, the reservation options are displayed. Add the wheels to your cart from here.
- Create an account or login.
- Agree to all the terms and conditions.
- Select the Bike Shop Affiliate to have the wheels sent to (or suggest a new one). Select the most appropriate shipping service.
- Enter your billing info and that's it!

How do I return the wheels?
Bring the wheels back to the Bike Shop Affiliate you picked them up from. You can also drop them at another Bike Shop Affiliate, but please notify us and bring all the shipping materials with you. All shipping labels and packing are handled between racewheelrental.com and the Bike Shop Affiliates.
My race is Saturday only. Do I have to pay for Sunday, too?
We've set up our program to be as cost effective as possible with the FedEx services in mind. FedEx does not offer pick up or standard Ground delivery on Saturday or Sunday. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Shipping
Does racewheelrental.com provide all the necessary shipping labels?
Yes! Your rental cost includes all shipping. Pick-ups and drop-offs are usually with one of our Bike Shop Affiliates, so all you have to do is drop off the wheels. If you are handling the shipping, we provide you with all the necessary shipping labels for your order.
Does racewheelrental.com ship the wheels directly to me?
No. We only ship to bike shops. As a full-service operation, we want to make sure any of your last minute questions can be answered by a service tech at a bike shop. With all the new technology coming out of the wheel market every year, nuances of equipment can be hard to discern online when ordering. We encourage you to use one of our affiliate shops, though you can also request a new one at check out.
I'm going to an event not in my home town. Do you ship to my hotel?
No. We will ship it to a bike shop affiliate, though. If there are no Bike Shop Affiliates in your area, we will make some calls and set one up. Or, you can make the request to a bike shop yourself.
How soon in advance do the wheels have to be reserved?
It's a "first come, first serve" deal. If three athletes are aiming at renting one pair of wheels in a weekend...first come! Orders that are within 7 days of the requested delivery date may be subject to Express shipping services, even if you just select Ground Shipping during your check out.
Do I pay for the days the wheels are being shipped to me?
No. Only the days you have them. This includes the day you recieve them and the day you return them to us.
Pricing
How is the rental fee structured?
Rates are based upon MSRP of the wheels as well as the tires they come with. Every wheelset comes with tires, tubes, Shimano 12-25 10sp cassette installed and ready to roll. Specific cassettes and the purchase of brake pads are optional.
What are the hidden fees?
There are no hidden fees. We display all rental rates, optional Excessive Damage Waiver and shipping services at the time of check out. The only "extra" that might be added are necessary Express Shipping options if you make your reservation within 7 days of your requested delivery date. In any event, we will contact you before making any charges.
Please note that our rates do not include third party installation fees. This is because our wheels show up "race ready" and have been checked out by the Bike Shop Affiliates before you even get to the shop. If you do need assistance with installation, you are hiring the expertise of our Bike Shop Affiliate, and the scope of this work is virtually impossible to asses from our end. We make every effort to display all charges associated with renting the best race wheels possible, but we cannot assume any sort of installation time or fees on behalf of our bike shop affiliates.
Cancellation Fees
There is a $25 cancellation fee if you are more than 7 days from the delivery of your wheel date. If you are within 7 days, we do not offer refunds. We will offer to reschedule you to another date for free on the same wheels and same options.
Change Fees
If you would like to change wheels within your order, there is a $25 service fee. Changes cannot be made if you are within 7 days of your delivery date.
I can afford to buy these, so why shouldn't I?
There is not one perfect wheel for all conditions. Get the right wheel for the race. And besides, shouldn't actually test something that costs $3500 in a real world condition before buying it?
Crash Insurance (also known as Excessive Damage Waiver)
What does this cover?
If you opt-in to this you will be covered for anything related to bike-racing. If you crash, hit a pothole or run over a curb you'll be ok.
What does crash insurance not cover?
If you lose the wheels, have them stolen or are negligent in your set up of the equipment you will be liable for any and all damage. This is why we recommend having our bike shop affilaite assist you with set up. Make sure you know how to adjust your derailleur (new spokes are $120+labor), adjust brake pads (rim replacements are $450+labor+shipping) or even clamp your skewer shut (rims+spokes+labor+shipping).
What does crash insurance cost?
We offer Crash Insurance for $20/wheel.
I crashed, but did not buy the coverage beforehand. Can I retroactivate it?
No. Thats like asking if you can go back in time and click your seatbelt before the crash so you don't get a face full of glass. Crash Insurance can only be purchased at the time of your reservation. Please familiarize yourself with the basics of the agreement. If, while riding the wheels, you hit the deck and you were fortunate enough to remember to click the insurance button when placing your order, sweet! Just send them back to the company as you usually would (with just a little road rash).
